Donnie Darko

On the left is the poster from Sundance, on the right, the poster seen in theaters,
both by the fantastic artist Jay Kelly (no relation to Richard)

The differences:

      • Homes Osborne's name is omitted from the theatrical poster
      • The Frank artwork is somewhat different in the two versions; the teeth are missing from the Sundance poster
      • The typeface used for Donnie Darko was changed from Harem (left) to Newmarket's choice (right)

"Darko's Creek" poster

Eurpean Darko poster

What has been referred to as the "Dawson's Creek" version of the poster, this one may not have made it out to any theaters (but apparently was used on the Region 2 DVD cover). It is a pretty cheesy design which Richard and other production members didn't like. Perhaps this is the first incarnation of the "floating heads" that would later appear on the U.S. DVD cover. Also, it is good to know that "you can never go too far."
